New Dating App Encourages Bribery, Sparks Controversy

A matchmaking venture called Carrot Dating, is run via an app that pairs people willing to offer incentives for a date with those who’ll take the stuff.
Brandon Wade, MIT graduate and creator of SeekingArrangement.com, a highly successful sugar daddy dating site, has launched a new matchmaking endeavor.
His latest venture is called Carrot Dating, an app that pairs people willing to offer incentives for a date with those who’ll take the stuff.
Standard goods and services options in the app run the gamut from jewelry and plastic surgery to a cup of coffee.
According to the app’s press information, the bribes are simply a means of securing a face-to-face meeting. In the description it states, "We are teaching men that it's not okay to show up empty handed for a first date and are training them to drive to become more chivalrous."
Carrot Dating has gotten some harsh criticism for being sexist, misogynistic, and just generally vile.
Wade insists everything about it is legitimate.
He said that men and women are welcome to bribe each other, and so far about a quarter of the offers have been initiated by females.
Wade also feels that dating is mostly superficial, anyway. Adding gifts to the mix just makes it more interesting.
