Laos authorities and French experts continue search for crashed plane

STORY: Laos authorities and French experts continued the search for the black box of a Lao Airline plane that crashed, killing all 49 people on board on Tuesday (October 22).

France's air accident investigation agency has sent a team to Pakse to help with the search. Thailand has also deployed a military plane.

Search experts have said that a part of the cockpit containing the flight recorder has been detected by sonar equipment but strong currents in the Mekong river are making it difficult for recovery teams to retrieve it.

On Monday (October 21), the rescue team found four more dead bodies in Mae Kong river, bringing the total to 43 victims being found.

A passenger list from the airline listed the nationalities of 44 people including 17 Lao, five Australians, seven French, five Thais, three Korean, two Vietnamese and one person each from the United States, Canada, China, Malaysia, and Taiwan.
