FOCUS - Sectarian violence on the increase in Baghdad

Almost every week in Iraq, there are reports of car bombs, suicide attacks and improvised explosive devices. Many of these happen in the Shiite area of Baghdad. Since the start of the year, there has been an increase in sectarian violence. Drivers are pulled over, asked to show their ID and sometimes are summarily killed if they happen to be in the wrong part of town. There are fears that religious fighting, which plagued Iraq in 2006 and 2007, could be coming back.
