Hundreds of thousands celebrate Rio's 18th Gay Pride

It's one thing Brazilians know how to do best ...party.

And this year's 18th Rio Gay Pride was exactly that for around three-hundred-thousand people in Rio's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Famed Copacabana beach packed to the brim and full of dance.

Parade attendees talk about the progress Brazil has made over the years, with respect to gay rights.

(SOUNDBITE) (Portuguese) PARADE ATTENDEE, JONAS RICARDO PEREIRA JUNIOR, SAYING:

"We used to have fear to go out on the street. So we come here to reflect and to show that we are LGBT and we have the same rights as any other person."

(SOUNDBITE) (Portuguese) PARADE ATTENDEE, IVEN MARX, SAYING:

"These days things are a lot better and stronger. People are accepting us with more affection, bringing their children to take photos, to participate, just like we want."
