The Beverly Hills auction house, Julien’s recently announced that x-rays from Marilyn Monroe’s doctor’s visit will be up for auction.

Auctions are hunting grounds for collectors of all things unique and ultimately expensive. The Beverly Hills auction house known as Julien’s recently announced some new artifacts which will be on the block in November.

The most notable pieces are facial X-Rays of Marilyn Monroe. They were reportedly taken only two months before her death.

Basically it’s a package deal consisting of a set of six X-rays along with a file of physician’s notes. The medical documents were written by plastic surgeon Michael Gurdin and the notes seem to confirm decade’s worth of speculation that Monroe underwent a cosmetic procedure in the 1950s.

The surgery reportedly involved a chin implant which was made of carved bovine cartilage. The executive director of Julien’s Auctions, Martin Nolan stated “Even though X-rays are not tangible like a musical instrument or clothing, it’s part of the story of Marilyn that people are buying. There is such a demand for her worldwide even though it is 50 years since she passed away.”
