THE NYMPHS
The Melbourne-based vocal quartet combine influences of 40s jazz, 50s swing and early 60s pop to create their unique and edgy sound. Add to this a dash of matching vintage glamour and you get something akin to The Andrew Sisters drinking single malt with Mae West at the Old Bar.
Currently recording their first full length album to be released late in the year, The Nymphs teamed up with producer Steven Schram (Cat Empire, Clairy Browne and the Bangin' Rackettes) to produce first single Shake and double A-side Who Will Come in 7 inch vinyl format, which they launched in April this year. They have just gone back into the studio to record the remainder of the album, with critically acclaimed musician Henry Wagons donning his (rather stylish) recording engineer hat.
After releasing their debut EP in 2010, The Nymphs have attracted acclaim as a versatile ensemble, able to turn their hands to a number of genres and work with a variety of performers, including Pinky Beecroft (Machine Gun Fellatio), Henry Wagons, Mikelangelo, and a variety of Australian music luminaries via the RocKwiz Orkestra.
The Nymphs boosted their national profile with a television appearance on Spicks and Specks (2010), performing Metallica's Enter Sandman in the style of The Chordettes' Mr Sandman. Since then they have appeared on television twice more --The 2011 RocKwiz Christmas Special (SBS) and the 2012 Ladies Round episode of The Marngrook Footy Show (ABC).
With a powerful vocal sound born in the bars of Melbourne, The Nymphs have reinvigorated the a capella genre, entertaining audiences from the Corner Hotel to the Melbourne Recital Centre.

Three of Australia's best young female a cappella groups come together for a special night of vocal music. Aluka, The Nymphs and Ginger and Tonic all present unique and contrasting versions of the a cappella genre.
Aluka have made a name for themselves with their experimental brand of vocal music, gracing the stage of the Sydney Opera House, touring through the Australian festival circuit and singing back ups for pop songstresses Lisa Mitchell and Clare Bowditch. The Nymphs work harmony like nobody's business, combining influences of 40s jazz, 50s swing and early 60s pop to create their unique and edgy sound. Ginger and Tonic enrapture audiences with their original brand of cabaret/pop, mixing cheeky comedy with impeccable close-harmony. Together the three groups will create a special night not to be missed!
