Russian cinema celebrated in New York

Russian Film Week is making its return to New York City.

Filmmakers celebrated the opening night of the 12th annual festival at Manhattan's Ziegfeld theater.

This year's event is being lead by Russian film critic and TV personality Anton Dolin.

The five-day festival kicked off with a film by director Alexandr Veledinskiy.

"I think it's really great because in Russia we know American cinema very well. And in America Russian cinema isn't so well known. So I think this is great towards furthering that cause and giving it more exposure."

Actress Yuliya Aug is thrilled about the festival and the opportunity to experience the big Apple.
