Some people will go to desperate lengths in order to evade police. A 43-year-old woman in Beaverton, Oregon was recently arrested after driving 27 miles straight on only three tires.

A Washington County sheriff's deputy initially spotted a Volkswagen maneuvering down the road erratically.

The deputy tried to pull the car over and the driver, who was later identified as Jennifer Winklebleck, did stop. However she quickly took off again and a long chase ensued.

Winklebleck drove north to Highway 26. Other cops were dispatched to assist. Spike strips were later laid across the roadway and the left front tire of Winklebleck’s car was flattened. Amazingly that didn’t stop her.

Both the tire and wheel began to disintegrate, to the point where the undercarriage of the vehicle started leaking fluids and sparks flew from the suspension. 27 miles after the tire was flattened, a deputy was able to slow the vehicle using a Pursuit Intervention Technique, but it was not until the suspect rammed a patrol car that she finally came to a halt.

Police quickly arrested her and claimed alcohol wasn't a factor in the chase. While it wasn’t clear what caused her to drive like a maniac, she is facing a slew of charges including reckless driving and endangering along with attempting to elude.
