Keith and Sue Webb were left scratching their heads when they received an oil painting of what they described as an “ugly” woman in the mail.

The package arrived without any information at all, and their attempts to identify the sender were unsuccessful.

What they did know was that while the painting itself was nicely executed the woman in it was rather unsightly and more than a bit threatening.

So much so that Mrs. Webb refused to have it in the house and exiled it to the garage.

Deciding to get rid of it, the couple had it appraised and learned that the portrait was in the area of 250 years old and worth about 300 dollars.

Before they were able to unload it, though, they got some interesting information.

A relative recognized the painting as being the one that hung in the bedroom of Mr. Webb’s late uncle.

She remembered the image because it terrified her children.

Now, rather than selling it the Webb’s are looking for a relative who’ll take it. While they search, it will stay in their garage.

Still a mystery, though, is who sent it to them.
