A 17-year-old girl who went missing on Sunday evening from near her residence in Udayanagar, near Mahadevapura, remains untraced four days later. She was last seen getting on to a stranger's motorcycle.
A kidnap case was registered by Mahadevapura police against the stranger on a complaint filed by the girl's father, Obala Reddy, after she failed to return home even on Monday.The girl, a student of St Anne's College in Ulsoor, was cycling in front of her house with two of her friends when the stranger rode up on a Bajaj Discover and invited the girl for a religious function at his house.
A child riding pillion on the bike also pleaded with the girl to go with them. The man and the child are suspected to be from Prakasham district, Andhra Pradesh. It is also Obala Reddy's home town, the complaint said.
Preliminary investigations revealed the girl's friends saw her talking to the youth in a friendly manner, and voluntarily hopping on to the bike, which later sped away.
Police said the girl did not have a mobile phone. A call made from a landline phone to her father's mobile is being investigated. "We are trying to locate the telephone number. We hope to trace her as early as possible. We fear no harm to the girl," a senior police officer said.
