One Direction signs record deal, Jon Hamm to undergo surgery

One Direction and Simon Cowell have reportedly signed a record deal that will have the boys receiving $10 million each. According to the contract, the boy band will release three albums from now through 2016 on Cowell's record label, Syco Entertainment. The five members formed the band on UK television singing competition "The X Factor" in 2010 and have since risen to worldwide fame.

Despite tabloid fodder saying Jon Hamm is sicker than he is, the actor said he's just undergoing a routine procedure to get a polyp removed on his vocal cord. The "Mad Men" star said that the polyp developed because strained his voice. The outpatient procedure is expected to go smoothly.

Sting kicked off a series of intimate benefit concerts in New York with songs from his new album "The Last Ship," which was released on September 23rd and draws inspiration from Sting's childhood in northern England. It is his first album with original material since "Sacred Love" in 2003.
