Thieves Busted After Stealing $50,000 Worth of Socks

Two men in Greensboro, North Carolina were recently arrested and charged with stealing approximately $50,000 worth of socks from a nearby distribution center.

Socks… they’re one of the many basic necessities needed in life. But, they can also be worth quite a bit of money.

48-year-old Byron Kearney and 32-year-old Henry Jackson are the men accused of swiping the socks. It all started after an investigation was launched when HanesBrands Inc reported that about $2 million worth of merchandise had gone missing over the course of two years.. (2,2,2)

Kernersville Police had joined forces with the company’s loss prevention department to determine who or what was responsible for the missing socks. As a result of a surveillance operation, three men were captured on camera at the HanesBrands Inc. facility.(1,3,1)

A gate guard was seen allowing the males to drive a large truck into the business. The men were later seen leaving the building with a massive truckload of socks. (1,4,2)

Officers quickly responded to the scene and arrested all three men. (1,6,1) Police believe the goods were sold to a person who was in turn selling the stolen socks at flea markets. (1,7,1)
