Red Mailbox Mysteriously Appears on Isolated Bridge

A letter box recently appeared on the outward frame of a bridge that stands over water. The bright red mailbox is somewhat of a mystery as locals in Sonning, United Kingdom have no idea how it got there.

Mail carriers can usually trek through snow, rain and all around tough terrain but there are some mailboxes that are just unreachable. A letter box recently appeared on the outside wall of a river bridge.

The bright red mailbox is somewhat of a mystery as locals in Sonning, United Kingdom have no idea how it got there. Neither does the mail service.

The mailbox is only accessible by boat. According to a local councilor, a very similar looking letterbox disappeared from a nearby pub right around the same time the red box was noticed mounted to the bridge.

Local residents think the letterbox placement is rather funny, but it will have to be removed because it violates planning laws. The old-school red mailbox, which is estimated to be about 100 years old was initially noticed by a mail carrier.

After the discovery, a Royal Mail spokesperson stated “The recent appearance of a postbox frontage on the side of the river bridge at Sonning is a mystery to us. It is certainly not an operational posting facility and we have no knowledge of how it arrived at this location."
