It is absolutely unbelievable how seemingly normal arguments can escalate to dangerous and sometimes deadly situations.

A mother in Sauk Village, Illinois allegedly stabbed her own son to death over ice cream. 31-year-old Robin Erwin has been charged with first degree murder.

Her son, 17-year-old Diontae Erwin, was recently pronounced dead at a medical center. An investigation was launched after his death was ruled a homicide.

Cops soon learned that the teenager and his mother had gotten into an argument over ice cream at the family home. According to witnesses, Robin grabbed a knife during the altercation and stabbed her own son in the chest, piercing his heart.

Robin had called 911, but told the emergency dispatcher that Diontae had walked into the knife. A corner found that allegation to be untrue, determining that force had been used, rendering the cause of death as a murder.

According to neighbors, in the year and a half that the Erwin family has been living there, the police have responded to several disturbances at the address. Robin is now in police custody. Her bond has been set at $750,000.
