Understandably, ATM locations are magnets for those looking to steal.

An ATM service man, 42-year-old, Jason N. Brown was recently the victim of a theft in Rhode Island but the crime was anything but standard.

Brown was inside the H & M Mart located on Broad Street in Providence, Rhode Island. He had been filling the ATM inside the store when all of a sudden, a man pulled down the metal gate over the entrance to the shop.

Brown was locked inside along with customers and employees. Brown’s work vehicle which was filled with money was parked across the street.

The store clerk called 911 and luckily a passerby heard yells coming from the business and opened the gate to let everyone out but by then it was too late.

Brown immediately went to his truck and noticed a window had been smashed. A bag that held $50,000 in cash was stolen from the vehicle.

The H & M store has encountered numerous robberies in the past, however the most recent incident is the first of its kind, where the culprit pulled the gate down in order to steal money from outside the establishment.
