If the US decides to take military action against President Bashar Assad's regime, al-Qaeda is expected to be one of the targets. So far the Obama administration has not said that any of the groups will be targeted.
However, their presence worries some in the US Congress who believe that groups like al-Qaeda might be in a position to take advantage of any US-led military action. Al Jazeera's Zeina Khodr reports from Beirut.
