As the United States debates strikes, Syrians in Damascus show opposition to intervention

As the U.S. continues debating whether to strike Syria, citizens of Damascus are standing up against any military intervention.
In a march through the city, Syrians wave flags and show their support for President Bashar al-Assad.
Some, including this internal Syrian opposition figure, say they would not give in to the demands from countries that oppose Assad.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SYRIAN OPPOSITION FIGURE, MAJD NIAZY, SAYING:
"Either we go to Geneva (peace conference) and accept what the Americans and the Gulf countries want from us (Syria), or we will have war. That's why we refuse to go to Geneva conference. If they want war, let there be war. They cannot kill 24 million Syrians."
Elsewhere in the city, Syrians are concerned about the possible strike, which President Barack Obama describes as a punishment for the use of chemical weapons by the government.
