ROY PANTON & YVONNE HARRISON interview @ Rototom Sunsplash 2013

With Yvonne Harrison and Roy Panton and we're really going back to the dawn of Jamaican music. In the era of ska and rocksteady their recorded several duets as well as solo work. The first songs recorded by Roy are 'Freedom land' and 'Adam & Eve', sung as duets with Stranger Cole and belonging to The Rovers, with the production of Duke Reid, but these song never reached the editing ste.
Roy did not lose heart and, with Studio One, recorded other songs, firstly a duet with Monty Morris and later he formed a more stable duo with Millie Small, before she headed to England for the very successful 'My boy lollipop '.
It was in the autumn of 1962, after being without a vocal partner, that first met Yvonne Harrison, who began recording regularly with, becoming one of the most essential two voice groups of the island.
