Few activities in life are less painful than waiting for your luggage at the airport.

But Japan has figured out how to reduce that pain.

Workers at the Tottori Prefecture Airport are placing comical art installations on the luggage carousels, in an effort to make the baggage wait time for passengers a little easier and entertaining.

Basically it's a circulating art exhibit at the airport. A silly anime character seemingly hops from a suitcase. The head is essentially a giant eyeball attached to a body.

Carousels in other baggage claims throughout the country also display sculptures. One has a large seal perched on the belt. A baby rests on its back. There’s a penguin makes the rounds as well.

Yet another airport specializes in sushi statues for the luggage carousel. While the differing, sometimes silly forms of art may seem bizarre given the placement, they do give passengers a view and an opportunity to kill some time by taking pictures of themselves next to the moving exhibits.

How do you like the idea?
