Egyptian security forces in Cairo killed scores of people on Wednesday while clearing camps of protesters who were demanding the reinstatement of deposed President Mohammed Mursi. The move came after international efforts failed to mediate an end to a six-week political stand-off between Mursi's supporters and the army-backed government which took power after he was ousted from power on July 3.
