Study Suggests Smart White People Better at Hiding Racist Views

A recent study suggests that white people of high intelligence aren’t more egalitarian than their lower scoring Caucasian countrymen, they’re just better at hiding their racist views.

The research conducted at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research involved analyzing the General Social Survey responses of more than 20 thousand white Americans.

What the reviewer found is that while whites who had higher cognitive abilities tended to talk a lot about equality, they did little to back up their words.

For example, the higher intelligence group mostly agreed that, “whites have no right to segregate their neighborhoods.”

Yet, nearly half of them said they would not interfere if they learned real estate agents were violating government open-housing laws.

Also, only 23 percent supported progressive school busing initiatives compared to the 27 percent of lower-ability survey participants who gave the measure their approval.

Of the study’s outcome the author said of the smart crowd, "In many cases, they have become so accustomed to these privileges that they become 'invisible,' and any effort to point these privileges out or to eliminate them strikes intelligent whites as a grave injustice."
