Jewish women pray at Jerusalem's Western Wall

The "Women of the Wall" were at the Western Wall in Jerusalem early morning today for prayers conducted at the start of every month in the Jewish calendar. The group demands the right to read aloud from the Torah and seeks to pray at the wall wearing certain objects usually reserved for men: a tallit prayer shawl, a kippa (skullcap), or to put on tefillin -- leather straps to which are attached tiny boxes containing portions of scripture.
