It is not wise to threaten or make an untactful joke on social media. A Ceres, California man is dealing with the backlash of angry Facebook users who read a post which threatened to kill a dog.

28-year-old Mark Joiner II uploaded a photo of his pet dog. He commented that he wanted to get rid of the pooch because it had defecated in the house and chewed Joiner’s belongings.

The online post read “Anybody want her? … She's FREE. Pick her up today or she will be shot and stuck in a hole by 9 p.m." Joiner even offered someone $20 to take the female dog.

Word quickly spread, and other Facebook members took screen shots of the posting and shared it with the Ceres police department.

Investigators moved forward and conducted a physical check on the dog.

She was fine when police arrived. Luckily for Joiner, cops realized his comment was only a way to vent his frustration. He will not be charged with any crime.

However, Joiner did receive a death threat from someone very upset with his Facebook posting. He has since vowed to keep his social media page PG rated.
