Kitten Almost Died After Being Fed Vegan Only Diet

A kitten that was brought into an Australian animal hospital was very close to death because the cat was placed on a vegan diet.
Vegetarian and vegan diets can be healthy for humans. However animals are a different story.
In a troubling incident, a kitten that was brought into an Australian animal hospital was very close to death because the cat was placed on a vegan diet. According to a veterinarian at Lort Smith Animal Hospital, the kitten was brought into the facility by its owners, who are believed to be vegan.
The cat had been on a very strict diet consisting of only rice milk, potatoes and pasta. It was so weak from a lack of proper nutrition, it collapsed upon entering the clinic.
The poor animal underwent emergency care and was given fluids and a heat pad to keep bodily temperatures up. The cat was also introduced to meat.
It was released from the hospital after three days into the care of its owners, however they were informed that cats need meat in their diet to survive. A veterinarian stated “Concern for animal welfare has to include a biologically-appropriate diet. You can't force your ideology on the cat.”
