Mexico wakes up to news of the arrest of one of its most wanted criminals.

Miguel Angel Trevino, leader of the notorious Zetas drugs cartel, was captured in the early hours of Tuesday morning after his pick-up truck was intercepted by a navy helicopter.

Trevino's capture is the latest in a string of blows to the cartel, whose previous leader was killed by marines in a firefight in northern Mexico last October.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto hailed one of the few high profile successes in a drugs war that has claimed over 70,000 lives since it was launched in 2007 by his predecessor Felipe Calderon.
