Amateur video captures scenes violence as political uncertainty turns deadly in Egypt.

More than 50 were killed when demonstrators said the army opened fire during morning prayers outside the Cairo barracks where ousted President Mohamed Mursi is believed to be held.

The military tells a different story, saying soldiers returned fire when "a terrorist group" tried to storm the compound where Mursi is purportedly held.

Muslim Brotherhood supporters of Mursi are calling for action

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) EYEWITNESS, MOHAMED HASSAN, SAYING:

"We never imagined that the military would kill us with live bullets. Our soldiers died on the borders last year and our military did nothing, -- our weapons should be used against our enemies not against us. I will tell you, once blood is spilled during peaceful revolutions it becomes fuel for our revolution to continue peacefully, we will not leave until our legitimate president returns, President Mohamed Mursi."
