President signs food ordinance

The UPA government's ambitious food security ordinance has been approved by President Pranab Mukerjee as he signed the ordinance on Friday (July 5). Now the Centre's major test will be to get the bill passed in Parliament. The opposition, meanwhile, has been up in arms against the government's move to take the ordinance route.
