Only Microbes Will Remain After Sun Scorches Earth

A billion years from now when the Sun has dried up all of the water and rendered the Earth mostly uninhabitable, the only life forms left will be microbes.

The grim but probable future was generated by a computer model created to foresee such things.

According to the recent scientific finding, the simple organisms are the only ones that have what it takes to endure the wrath the intensifying star will someday unleash upon our planet.

A researcher from the University of St Andrews in Scotland said, "There won't be very much oxygen present, so they need to be able to survive in low or zero-oxygen environments, high pressures, and high salinities because of evaporating oceans."

In approximately 2 point 8 billion years, as the air becomes more poisonous and water underground more scarce, they’ll die too, leaving Earth lifeless.

Other than providing a cinema-quality apocalyptic scenario, the research could help scientists where to look for life on other planets outside our solar system.

Armed with an idea of how life ends here, scientists can look for traces of bygone and burgeoning civilizations elsewhere.
