Tensions mount in Egypt as Mursi calls for end to ultimatum

Egypt's armed forces gave President Mohamed Mursi an ultimatum to resolve the crisis by Wednesday. Mursi is now calling on them to withdraw that threat.
On the street they are calling for him to step down.
They carry banners calling for the fall of the regime.
(SOUNDBITE)(Arabic) ANTI-MURSI PROTESTER, EMAD, SAYING:
"Enough, the Egyptian people are suffocating. Only God knows how upset we are. Mursi doesn't understand. I want to know, does he have dough in his ears? He doesn't see? He doesn't hear. The entire Egyptian people hate you. They don't want you. Enough!"
A very different scene in Mursi's hometown.
The show of support comes as the opposition is making its weight felt with large demonstrations around the country.
In Alexandria those demonstrations turned violent -- as opponents and supporters of Mursi clashed on the streets.
