STORY: Hundreds of relatives and members of the Turkmen Front mourned on Wednesday the deputy head of the ethnic minority group who was killed in twin suicide bombings in the Tuz Khurmato district of Salahuddin province on Tuesday.

Ali Hashim Muhtaroglu was killed with seven others when two suicide bombers blew themselves up during a protest of members of the Turkmen ethnic minority near the town of Tuz Khurmato.

The attackers walked into the encampment on the Baghdad-Kirkuk highway, near the town of Tuz Khurmato, 170 km (105 miles) north of the Iraqi capital, where the Turkmen were protesting against what they saw as government failure to protect them.

Carrying flags of the Turkmen Front and pictures of Muhtaroglu and chanting Allah Akbar, mourners carried the coffin to the headquarters of the Turkmen Front, before taking the body to the cemetery for burial.
