STORY: A tanker truck transporting alcohol exploded Friday on a Bolivian highway on its way to Peru killing at least 18 people. It was still unclear how many people were injured in the accident.

The horrific multiple crash occurred on a highway linking the South American countries near the city of San Juan de Huancollo near the Peruvian border about 100 kilometers or 60 miles from La Paz.

Local reports indicated the tanker exploded after the truck driver lost control and collided with at least five other vehicles.
