The FAA is set to relax the ban on portable electronic bans during takeoff and landing. This ease in restrictions would be for data only, not for talking. The Wall Street Journal reports that old fears regarding the devices would create electric fields that would interfere with flight electronics have been debunked. The final decision by the FAA will come in September.
