Parking Meters in UK Town Refused to Accept Local Currency

If you park in New York City, you expect the meter to take local currency - right?

Well, drivers in Baildon, United Kingdom may disagree with you.

Motorists received tickets after parking in a car lot installed with a meter machine. However the machine wouldn’t accept the coins.

Naturally, drivers chose to park and walk away with no other options left in sight. But when they returned to their vehicles, they were greeted by citations on the windshield, issued by quick wardens.

Workers from the Bradford Council placed ‘out of order’ signs on the meter while they tried to work out what was wrong. Eventually it was discovered that the French machine was configured to accept Euros only. After three months of being defunct, the machine has finally been fixed and is now able to accept British pounds.

Following the fix, a local councilor stated “Suddenly my pound coin fitted perfectly and it issued me a timed and dated ticket. It's a miracle.”

It remains unclear what'll happen to the citations already issued.
