The population of India is expected to outnumber China by the year 2028 according to projected statistics from the United Nations’ ‘World Population Prospects’ report.

While China currently has the world’s largest population, India’s population size is expected to maintain well above 1 billion people in the coming century, while the number of people in China has been projected to drop to 1.1 billion.

Global life expectancy is also projected to see an increase from around 75 years, going up to 82 by the end of this century.

In 2012, the countries with the highest national population were China, India and the United States, followed by Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan and Nigeria.

Although fertility rates overall are in decline, developing countries are experiencing significant population hikes.

The UN report says that the population of Africa is projected to more than double going from 1 point 1 billion to 2 point 4 billion people by 2050.

What do you think? How will this change in population affect globalization?
