No doubt it seemed like a good idea at the time. Some English farmers are finding that introducing a different breed of cow to strengthen their stock wasn’t such a great plan after all.

The new cows are attacking people, and one man was trampled to death.

Area officials have issued a warning to those who venture out into the countryside to be watchful for the aggressive cattle.

It’s been recommended that strollers pack a mobile phone and keep a good distance from the bovines.

As most reported incidents happened to people with dogs, they stressed that pets should be leashed.

However, if the canine is being chased by one of the angry cows, it’s best to let him or her outrun it to safety.

In the US, cows kill nearly 20 people a year.

In a review of 21 cases that occurred in the Midwest over a 4-year period, researchers found that 16 of the fatalities resulted from deliberate attacks.

5 of the beatings were carried out by groups of cattle.
