How do you celebrate the special occasions in your life?

Saudi Prince Fahd al-Saud decided to do something special to celebrate receiving his degree. Not to be outdone by, well, anybody, he booked portions of Disneyland Paris for three days to the tune of 20 million dollars.

He was generous about it, though. Along with his friends, he invited people he didn’t even know who had proven themselves to be some of Disney’s biggest fans.

The shindig in France was the grand finale to a world tour of Disney parks that had originated in Hong Kong some time earlier.

Special touches for the closing event included rare appearances by some of Disney’s not so eponymous characters including the Aristocats and Roger and Jessica Rabbit.

The party raged on from 6am ‘til 2am daily.

Still not the most expensive party ever, though.

That distinction is said to go to the 50th birthday party for the Sultan of Brunei. The 1996 soiree included a 16 million dollar performance by Michael Jackson and noshes of caviar and Champagne.

The extravaganza’s final tally was around 27 million dollars, which, in today’s dollars would be more like 40.
