Up to a thousand supporters of the far-right English Defence League have been protesting over the murder of a British solider in London last week.
In a tense but largely peaceful demonstration supporters of the group rallied outside the prime minister's Downing Street residence waving placards and shouting anti-Islamic obscenities.
