Artist of the Month - May 2013: Hans Schabus

This month ikono presents a choice of six films by Hans Schabus, an outstanding artist from Austria born in 1970, who represented his home country at the 2005 Venice Biennale. Schabus' manifold work is dealing with spaces and their perception, transforming them to his own liking in a very precise way. His work addresses themes like the artist's sedulous effort and failure, phantasmagoric journeys through the hidden spaces of everyday life, and the aesthetic transformation of objects by their decontextualisation and displacement.
Among the films being on view on ikonoTV throughout May are Atelier (2010), Echo (2009), Passagier (2000), Western (2002), Astronaut (2003) and Laßnitz (2012).
