Sectarian fighting between Sunni Muslims and the minority Alawite community has killed at least 25 people over the past eight days.
The civil war in neighbouring Syria has sharply increased sectarian tensions here, with Sunnis supporting the rebellion against the government and Hezbollah backing President Bashar al-Assad.
One resident on Sunday said he found an unexploded rocket in his backyard.
In southern Beirut, two rockets hit a Hezbollah-controlled district -- the first apparent attack on the militant group's stronghold since the Syrian conflict began.
One of the rockets landed in a car sales yard next to a busy road junction.
The other hit an apartment 300 metres away, wounding five people.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but the rocket fire came a day after Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah gave a speech committing the guerrilla group to fighting in Syria
