Several blasts and shootings rock Kabul

Police officers aid a wounded colleague in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

At least two policemen were wounded in shootings that followed several explosions in the city.

The first blast was a suicide car bomb which blew up at about 4 p.m. There was a second blast 30 minutes later.

A Reuters cameraman reported four blasts, interspersed by heavy gunfire.

There was no official word on casualties.

One eyewitness describes the scene.

(SOUNDBITE) (Dari) EYE WITNESS, AHMAD JAN, SAYING (AUDIO AS INCOMING):

" I was inside the office, suddenly I heard a bang and I saw four people running towards the building. Security forces were running towards the other side looking for other attackers."

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, speaking to Reuters by telephone, claimed responsibility for the attack.
