Little wonder then that amfAR's star-studded charity auction in Cannes on Thursday saw tens of millions raised for research into AIDS.
A flight into space with Leonardo DiCaprio was just one of the unique lots on offer, going for 1.5 million dollars.

Chaired by Sharon Stone, the event raised 25 million dollars.
Other lots included a private audience with Duran Duran, who gave the winner a taste with their performance of "Hungry Like The Wolf".
A fashion show was also held with designs by Alexander McQueen, Burberry and Chanel amongst others on
