South Korea has many beautiful parklands and islands, and food wise, it is Kimchi all the way.   There is quite a bit of history there and in ancient times, has strong links under the protection of a Chinese dynasty according to the history at their museums.   Food and hotels are not cheap, but they are decent.   You can also take a peek at North Korea where both sides would blast their propaganda all day long.   Recommended to visit.
